From the country of snow castles straight in the newspaper

In the morning of 15th of January, on the thin pages of the local newspaper from my hometown, I made my appearance. Words beautifully arranged by the talented journalist Daniela Beale, have transformed a simple interview into a real fairytale with actual events from my life.

Once upon a time,
the official biography of the metal band Nightwish, has become the book that started it all, followed by trusting the receiver in me by contacting the “Nightwish teacher” (as people like to call him) Plamen Dimov, whom I found mentioned in the lines of the very first pages of the book.
My first musical journey to Finland where I begun taking roots, meeting my other half on the magical realm two years later and knowing since a young age that one day I will live here, not even having a clue where my “home” is on the map at that age, are a few of my life events that had been written about in the first lines of page 8 of the newspaper.

Storytime
“I had a very good day at work and I still have the habit of singing on my way home, especially because the road I am walking on, is not populated. And as I was singing, on the right side, across the road, I saw a deer. I was looking at it, I almost did not breathe at all and the moment I took my phone out of my pocket, it ran away.
“If I start singing again, would it return?” I have wondered. And so I did! I started to sing louder than before and the deer returned. ” – it is a beautiful memory that actually happened last year on my way back home from work which I will always remember dearly and if you’re wondering which song I was singing, it was Auri – I hope your world is kind . I was prepared to write a blog post about this fortunate event the moment I got home but I told myself that one day there will be another way to talk about it. And I was right!

While reading the article, I get emotional. It feels like I’ve done something right in this life and that I am not alone. There are people in this world who support my music, my creative life and who understand me better than I can imagine.

The interview/fairytale ends with my most honest words:

“I am like Peter Pan. I do not want to grow up ever! I want to be left in my world because there I am close to happiness. But to know my mother, father and grandmother healthy, that is my supreme happiness!”

And now I want to thank to all the people who keep encouraging me to follow my dreams, the people who are always eagerly waiting for a new tune from me and of course to Crai Nou newspaper that has always been very supportive ever since I was 15 years old and back then I was releasing my bilingual poetry book. THANK YOU!

My source of inspiration

I am often being asked where do I get inspiration from? Simple: from the nature.

Rural living has always been the best option for me, for my mental health and creativity.
While I was home, living in the heart of the city I couldn’t find my inner peace. I was always agitated, stressed and knowing everybody and meeting dozens of people daily, being analyzed from head to toe if I am dressed up as society says, was pure torture. I don’t say that I don’t like visiting big cities because I really do! I am talking strictly about the environment that keeps me inspired. And nature it is!
I am so lucky that now I am surrounded by so much nature, lakes, animals and all the beautiful things that keep this Planet moving.
Oh! And I hardly know my neighbours (I guess in over 3 years since I moved here, I only got to know 2 of them:)) and I love it this way!) whereas in Romania, they were tracking my every move.
So, with that being said, I was desperate to find my place in this world and privacy.
And I found them!

Down below I made a small inspirational video to start the year with good vibes and positive energy 😉

Taikatalvi

In front of the balcony, majestic trees covered in a white sparkling blanket are looking at me while the blue of winter is popping out on the sky, giving me the feeling of living in Wonderland.

Another year passed by. A year so difficult for me that it seemed to never end. But it did end in a cozy way, while visiting my loved ones in Romania. Being in my parents’ arms again, it felt like those days when I was fighting with anxiety and bad panick attacks never existed. I felt safe. Whoever said “don’t grow up, it’s a trap!” was right!

The year ended in a glorious way, musically talking. After releasing my latest song “Only winter can bring you home”, the social media simply exploded. I was so overwhelmed when Facebook yesterday congratulated me for the thousand wonderful friends that I gained there! I can’t find the proper word to say “Thank you!” to all of you, but THANK YOU! and I really mean it!
For a small, independent artist, receiving support from people from all around the globe, it means a lot and it keeps me motivated. And another thing that I like about my friends on my page is that they actually want to talk to me. It doesn’t matter if it’s about music or life, but they reach out to me and ask questions or simply share with me stories about their lives. It already looks like I’m building a wonderful community online and I’m loving it!

A good start of 2019 I already had by giving an interview to a local newspaper from Romania. I was scared for the questions that I was about to get asked but it was so different than what I imagined in all those hours waiting in front of the computer to get the call. Why the anxiety? Why the bad thoughts? No need for them. They don’t exist. It’s just in our heads. The wonderful journalist was so unexpectedly down to earth that I immediately have opened the gates of my soul and let it all out. Next week the interview should be in the newspaper and although it will be in Romanian, will do my best to translate it into English and post it here on my blog.

The batteries are charged and I am ready to go back to composing music and also continue the card illustrations that I’m working on and hopefully this year they will be available for purchase. I promise you something very cute 😉

Fairfarren, dear song!

Creating you was such an adventure! And seeing how much love you are receiving from my listeners makes it even more special!

Yesterday I have released a song called “Only winter can bring you home”. It has been before on my YouTube channel but in a shorter version, bad quality and vocals missing. Now after working almost 2 months on it alone, I can proudly say that it’s complete! I hope that you will include it in your Christmas playlist 😉
’till next time!

*and stay tuned because the song will soon be available on Spotify, iTunes, etc.

Adventures in The North

I remember it was my first October in Finland. On a cold (very early) morning, I sat on our balcony and stared at the sky because the constellations were visible and while pointing with my finger at them trying to remember their names, I found myself suddenly humming a melody which I’ve never listened to before.
And pretty much this sums up how my beloved song “Adventures in The North” was born. On the same morning, a demo has been recorded and a few months later, I had the pleasure to work with two wonderful friends/musicians that gave a better sound and a special touch to my song. So, in three days when Finland celebrates 100 years of independence, my lyric & making-of video will be up on my YouTube channel!

EN: The official lyric & making-of video of my first song “Adventures in The North” will be released on YouTube on 6th of December! Stay tuned!

FI: Ensimmäinen kappaleeni “Adventures in The North” virallinnen lyriikka video julkaistaan YouTubessa 6 joulukuuta! Pysy kanavalla!

RO: Prima mea piesă “Adventures in The North” va fi lansată pe YouTube împreună cu un videoclip pe 6 Decembrie!

One with the waves, ocean soul

There is a place for each one of us where our soul finds it’s peace. Mine is close to the water.
Each time I see a river or a lake, my soul starts trembling of joy and my heart almost pops out of my chest. It’s a feeling of being home. A feeling of serenity and peace of mind.
I am a simple person and small things make me happy. But more happy I am when I can see with my own eyes the reflection of the forest or the sky on the lake. And although water is odourless, I feel a special scent of the waves that I cannot put into words and that makes it even more special to me!
That’s why I’ve chosen to film my parts for the Ocean Soul project on a deck over the lake. After filming a few scenes, my beloved one asked me “Aren’t you cold? I am freezing!” and I can honestly tell you that I did not notice the cold wind blowing until he told me.
I was above water and I was free!

The idea of the musical project called Ocean Souls belongs entirely to Dean Kopri and it’s also a part of Kitee International Art & Music Festival. He managed to gather 12 people from different countries together, with different singing styles, created wonderful piano arrangements of the original songs by Nightwish and wrote music sheet for every single voice and instrument. How awesome is that? We all have been working for almost a year now on our parts and although Ocean Souls have played in Kitee (Finland) this summer, some of us couldn’t make it but the other girls simply nailed it! I will leave down bellow our first song published on YouTube for the entire world to listen and stay tuned for more!
And although you can barely see the make-up in the video, here is what I used:
make-up
*Before foundation, I always moisturize my skin with the daily moisturizer with camelina oil by Lumene and leave it for a few minutes to let the skin absorb it*
Foundation: FIT me! by Maybelline (matte + poreless) #105 natural ivory
Beauty blender by PARSA beauty
Concealer: Soft touch mousse by Essence #20 soft sand
Eyeshadow base: I (heart) stage by Essence
Eyebrows:Eyebrow stylist set by Essence
Powder (just a little bit!): New mater maker by Maybelline New York #10 classic ivory
Eyelid highlights: a sparklish-pinkish color from the pallete Magic Studio Naked Way
Eyelid shadow: Ombre essentielle by Chanel #112 pulsion
Eyeliner: Liquid ink eyeliner waterproof by Essence
Mascara: Rock ‘n’ doll by Essence
Bronzer: Bronzing powder by H&M #dark tan (just a bit on the top of the brush otherwise it would look weird on the cheeckbonesbecause I hate getting a tan!)
Lips: XXXL Longlasting lipgloss velvet matt & lipliner #06satin mauve by Essence (I love nude colors for the lips!)
And to set and help the make-up last on the face the whole day, I use the setting spray matte finish from NYX. It’s a life-saver and I love it!
Do you still wonder why your girlfriend is always late on a date? haha!
And at the end of the day, instead of tea with honey and lemon and Paracetamol, I switched to hazelnut vanilla ice cream. Ooops!

Travel with Great Élan

Shame on me for not keeping this blog up to date but from time to time I do write.

And this time I’m gonna share with you my latest cover which is “Élan” originally performed by Nightwish.

I’m not a great fan of covers, I prefer composing my own songs and perform them my own way but I wanted to try something new!

My little home studio has become a world of my own for a day and I enjoyed it to the fullest!
