Sealing the memory

Once upon a time,

I had a best friend. Hmm…if I think better, I used to consider him my brother and he was brought into our family when he was only 4 weeks old.

I recall that on a warm day of September, my father opened the door to my bedroom and he was holding something very little in his hands. Once he opened his palm, a tiny creature stepped into my soul.
Years of joy have followed and in the meantime we discovered that he adored music. He was a melomaniac actually. Oh, so many silly moments I remember and I won’t ever forget the amount of time I was yelled at ‘cuz the “big sister” always woke up the little fella during the night and he knew I was up to something but he never said no. But no matter what, we still did stupid things behind my mother’s back 😉

But the genes were there since he was born. And even the doctors couldn’t do anything. Nothing could have saved him. And although those 6 years together were not enough and his time with us was short, he left for a better world but we remained with wonderful memories.

I am heartbroken but I know he is no longer in pain.
And when the time will come, we will meet again. Probably I will be very old but I promise to never forget and play for him our favorite piano song.

Until then, farewell beloved Kuky!

From the country of snow castles straight in the newspaper

In the morning of 15th of January, on the thin pages of the local newspaper from my hometown, I made my appearance. Words beautifully arranged by the talented journalist Daniela Beale, have transformed a simple interview into a real fairytale with actual events from my life.

Once upon a time,
the official biography of the metal band Nightwish, has become the book that started it all, followed by trusting the receiver in me by contacting the “Nightwish teacher” (as people like to call him) Plamen Dimov, whom I found mentioned in the lines of the very first pages of the book.
My first musical journey to Finland where I begun taking roots, meeting my other half on the magical realm two years later and knowing since a young age that one day I will live here, not even having a clue where my “home” is on the map at that age, are a few of my life events that had been written about in the first lines of page 8 of the newspaper.

Storytime
“I had a very good day at work and I still have the habit of singing on my way home, especially because the road I am walking on, is not populated. And as I was singing, on the right side, across the road, I saw a deer. I was looking at it, I almost did not breathe at all and the moment I took my phone out of my pocket, it ran away.
“If I start singing again, would it return?” I have wondered. And so I did! I started to sing louder than before and the deer returned. ” – it is a beautiful memory that actually happened last year on my way back home from work which I will always remember dearly and if you’re wondering which song I was singing, it was Auri – I hope your world is kind . I was prepared to write a blog post about this fortunate event the moment I got home but I told myself that one day there will be another way to talk about it. And I was right!

While reading the article, I get emotional. It feels like I’ve done something right in this life and that I am not alone. There are people in this world who support my music, my creative life and who understand me better than I can imagine.

The interview/fairytale ends with my most honest words:

“I am like Peter Pan. I do not want to grow up ever! I want to be left in my world because there I am close to happiness. But to know my mother, father and grandmother healthy, that is my supreme happiness!”

And now I want to thank to all the people who keep encouraging me to follow my dreams, the people who are always eagerly waiting for a new tune from me and of course to Crai Nou newspaper that has always been very supportive ever since I was 15 years old and back then I was releasing my bilingual poetry book. THANK YOU!

How can you think of Halloween when it’s snowing outside?

Most of the Finns celebrated Halloween this year on 4th of November and that’s why yesterday when we went to the grocery store, the town was almost empty and a few of the stores were closed.  And I was wondering why, until I checked my news feed and my beloved Finnish friends were sharing photos of their outfits and then I realized that all my decorations are now in boxes in our storage room waiting to see the light of the day next year -_- So yeah, I celebrated Halloween when there was still snow outside and it felt like a spooky Christmas to be honest xD

Two years in Finland

Two years ago I started my journey to Finland and now I can happily say that I permanently live here ❤

I wanted to go somewhere and film something exciting for my readers/subscribers but all my plans have been shattered by the nasty weather…so I ended up in front of my laptop playing this game called “Influent”. While playing, I recorded myself talking nonsense and just having fun failing 😀

Enjoy the video and cheers to two years in Finland!

Juhannus

Every year here in Finland, we have this holiday called Juhannus and people consider this celebration as important as Christmas. I personally don’t celebrate it but since I moved here, every time for Juhannus we are going to look for a kokko – the traditional midsummer bonfire. This year we were all tired and quite late so most of the kokkos that we have seen were almost off. And the weather has not helped us at all – rain, mellow weather and cold.

But at least I got to “vlog” a bit our Juhannus adventure so here it is. Enjoy! 😀

Once upon a December

I’ve been wanting to record the song “Once upon a December” for a while now but I didn’t have any free time or good disposition (the lack of sun here in Finland makes me really tired sometimes).

But yesterday I finished everything: from recording to filming and some extra photos in my “home studio” 😀 So everything is done by me!

The voice might sound like it’s coming out of a jar because I’m still learning my recording software but I’ll get there! Appreciate the effort, please! 😛

So, here you have my cover of “Once upon a December”. The movie has a special meaning to me and each time I watch it, my thoughts fly to my grandmother who is waiting for me home in Romania so I dedicate this to her with all my heart ❤

The last warm days

I know it’s been a few weeks since I didn’t write here but I’m back!

Suomenlinna – is the place where I always like to go whenever I’m in Helsinki. I got a ticket from the ticket machine at the Market Square and I jumped in the ferry. The journey to the sea fortress takes around 10 minutes but I never count how long it takes because it feels amazing to be on top of the water and to have the wind playing with your hair and seagulls flying above at the same pace with the ferry. It feels like you are one of them. One with the nature!

This time I explored the island a bit more and I have discovered places where I could hide and be alone. Places where I can have the Baltic Sea at the bottom of my feet and then rest in a coffee shop with a hot chocolate and an original Fazer chocolate candy. All these things you can see yourself below. Enjoy!DSC_0109.jpgdsc_0144
